There are several ways to reset your Mac password. Some versions of macOS allow you to reset your password using your Apple ID, this is the easiest way, so give it a try.
Try entering any password while logging in to test the feature. If after three attempts you still don't get the message that you can reset your password with your Apple ID, try another method.
If so, click the button in the triangle in the box next to the message Enter your Apple ID Password. In the window that opens, enter a new password, confirm it Add a password prompt. Click "Reset Password" to confirm the changes.
Finally, you will be prompted to restart your Mac. When it starts, sign in using your new credentials.
To reset your password with another administrator account, sign in to your Mac using the credentials associated with that account. Then click the Apple icon and select System Preferences. Now select "User Groups", click the lock icon in the lower-left corner of the pop-up window, re-enter the correct administrator password.
Finally, select your username from the list, click on the "Reset Password" button Enter your new account password. Check it Add a password hint before clicking Change Password.
