Fix Google Chromecast Wifi Connection

Your Chromecast streaming device needs to use WiFi in order to connect to your device. However, Chromecast can only remember one WiFi network at a time. This means that if you need to change networks, you will need to reinstall your Chromecast. Here's how to change the WiFi network on your Chromecast in several ways.

You can try the following to fix Chromecast configuration issues:

  • Make sure your Chromecast is connected to the same network

  • Factory data reset by holding the reset button for 25 seconds

  • restart the modem or router

  • Use the HDMI extension cable that came with your Chromecast

  • Bring Your Router to Your Chromecast

  • Make sure your Chromecast is running on a 2.4 GHz network

  • Update your router firmware as needed

  • Adjust Your Router Channels

Switch your Chromecast to another WiFi network

As mentioned above, it's easy to switch to a WiFi network on Chromecast when an existing network is active. In this case, you're basically switching Chromecast from one network to another.

1. Start the TV your Chromecast is connected to Make sure Chromecast is turned on

2. Now open the Google Home app on your iPhone or Android phone.

3. Next, click on the 3-bar menu icon in the top left corner of your screen.

4. From the popup menu, click on Devices.

5. On the device screen, tap the "three dots" menu icon

6. Next, from the drop-down menu, click on Settings.

7. On the Settings screen, tap on WiFi.

8. You will see a pop-up, click on the name of your WiFi network

9. Select your new WiFi network from the drop-down menu

10. Next enter your WiFi password Click OK.

Note: If you receive an error message, make sure that your phone's WiFi network matches the Google Chromecast Wifi Connection network.


Change Chromecast WiFi Network

When you change your modem or router, your phone's new WiFi network will no longer match your Chromecast WiFi network. Therefore, it is more than likely that your iPhone or Android phone will not be able to experience your Chromecast.
